A tip for reloaders....

The primer seating mechanism on my RCBS Ammomaster progressive press tends to get quite cranky when a load of powder hits the shell plate by accident.  Like..... when some smeg head misses putting in a case once, and the powder safety bar is adjusted just a wee bit too conservatively.

In other words, I do it often.

Well, to date I have always just took a deep breath and puffed away the offending powder.  It worked.... okay.... but some powder still got under the plate and migrated to the primer seating rod.  Sticky sticky growl growl.

This session, Carteach's elderly brain skipped a gear... and suddenly remembered a stored case of cans... cans that are essentially A puff of air in a can......

Yes friends and neighbors... this works a treat on the reloading press.  Yesterday I cranked out a can or three of .38 special, and never once had to say bad words towards the primer dohickey thingus.

It's the little things that make us happy......
